This document contains important information about Wonderware®
ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3. Please carefully review this
document for known issues in this version and changes, if any, to the ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 documentation included on this CD.
Operating Systems
The ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 supports the following
Operating Systems:
- Microsoft
Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) (Professional)
- Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit) (Standard and Enterprise)
- Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 (32-bit) (Standard and Enterprise)
- Microsoft
Windows Vista SP2 (32-bit and 64-bit WoW) (Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise)
(see Windows Operating System Restrictions)
- Microsoft
Windows 2008 SP2 (32-bit and 64-bit WoW) (Standard and Enterprise)
- Microsoft
Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (64-bit WoW) (Standard and Enterprise)
- Microsoft
Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit WoW) (Professional and Enterprise)
Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher is recommended on the computer where the product is installed.
Windows
Operating System Restrictions
- Windows
Vista and above operating systems do not support NetDDE.
- A DDE
client and an OPC client cannot communicate with a DAServer
simultaneously. SuiteLink is the recommended
communications protocol.
- When
upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista, uninstall all DAServers and DAS Runtime Components prior to
upgrading the operating system. After upgrading the operating system, all DAServers and DAS Runtime Components can be
reinstalled.
- When
accessing a DAServer remotely using the SMC,
Network Discovery on both nodes must be enabled.
Software Requirements
- ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 incorporates Visual C++ 9.0 SP1 run-time redistributable components (If these components are not detected on the computer, they are automatically installed).
DDE Compatibility
- Local DDE is supported ONLY when the DAServer is configured as "Not a
Service" and activated from its executable file or launched from InTouch.
- On Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008, Local DDE is NOT supported when the DAServer is activated in the System Management Console (SMC).
Hardware Requirements
To run a DAServer, we recommend as a minimum the
following hardware configurations:
When deploying the ABCIP DAServer in a virtualized environment using Hyper-V, additional hardware requirements apply. For more information about Hyper-V system requirements, see the following web site:
www.microsoft.com/hyper-v-server/en/us/system-requirements.aspx.
Hardware and Firmware
- Information
on specific Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 module
firmware tested against ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 can
be found in the ABCIP DAServer User's Guide,
in the “Tested Logix5000 Firmware” chapter.
Installation Information
Before installing the ABCIP DAServer, it is
strongly recommended that you exit all Wonderware programs, including
executable (.EXE) files and services. Detailed installation instructions are
included in the DAServer Installation Guide.
It is recommended that you read the DAServer
Installation Guide prior to beginning the installation process.
In addition to the procedures described in the DAServer
Installation Guide, the following installation requirements and other
requirements pertaining to the installation and uninstall orders have to be
followed:
Installation Requirements
The following installation requirements are prerequisites for the ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 to work properly:
- Local
administrator privileges are required to install a DAServer.
- If
version 3.0 or later of the DAServer has
been installed on the computer, the installation is able to detect them
and performs an upgrade on this product. That is, ABCIP DAServer 4.1 SP3 will allow customers to upgrade from
previous 3.x versions of the DAServer without
uninstalling those DAServers. In addition,
components, which are common to all DAServers on
the system, such as the DASEngine and DAServer Manager, will also be upgraded.
Any installed versions prior to 3.0 will require the user to uninstall the
DAServer prior to installation.
- During
installation, the UI states that the feature will be installed on the
local disk drive. This is not forced, and you can install on a network
drive. However, installing on a network drive is not a valid configuration
option. Local installation is a requirement.
- Installing the ABCIP DAServer on the same virtual machine with a SoftLogix PLC is not a supported configuration. Due to port contention between ABCIP DAServer and SoftLogix, communication between the DAServer and the SoftLogix may fail and cannot be re-established. It is recommended to install the ABCIP DAServer and the SoftLogix PLC on separate nodes.
- The DAServer requires Microsoft WoW64 emulation component
to be available on any 64-bit platform.
- A DAServer and its deployed DIObjects cannot co-exist on the same machine.
Installation Order Requirements
The installation for the DAServers and other
Wonderware FactorySuite™ products on
the same computer must follow the order as outlined. A DAServer
must always be installed last.
- (If
required) - InTouch™ 7.11
followed by application of the latest available InTouch
patch
- (If
required) - Legacy I/O Servers™
- DAServer(s)
This installation order will ensure that any differences, which may exist in
the common components included with individual product releases, will install
and run without version conflicts. In case of any future patch on the installed
Wonderware FactorySuite products, follow the
particular installation instructions from the patch.
Uninstall Order Requirements
After installing a DAServer on a computer with
other Wonderware FactorySuite products, the following
applies:
- If any
Wonderware FactorySuite product is uninstalled
from the computer, all other Wonderware FactorySuite
products must be uninstalled and reinstalled.
Note: ArchestrA™
products, such as InTouch™ 8.0
or greater, do not require any installation/uninstall order with the DAServers.
Resolved Issues—ABCIP DAServer
L00090819:
Repeatedly changing the PLC program to trigger a tag database upload, or repeatedly poking a 1 at $SYS$UpdateTagInfo, resulted in a small DASABCIP memory increase that was not cleared until DASABCIP was restarted. The issue has been resolved. See SR 103115352 (HotFix 1337).
L00116632:
HotFix CR L00116010; SR 22317384: DAServer performance degraded over time. After running overnight, it required 30-seconds to poll approximately 26,000 active items.
L00117361:
HotFix CR L00116732; SR 12611811: Installing DAServer ABCIP 4.1 SP2 broke communication between Application Server and the other components, such as an InTouch Managed Application, that use SuiteLink for communication. This occurred on a system running in a TSE environment with a TSE application name exceeding 15 characters. The application name buffer can now handle up to 255 characters and the issue is resolved.
L00117710:
HotFix CR L00117285; SR 37112265: On DASABCIP startup or when items were first advised, tag database uploads that should have occurred did not upload on a consistent basis. Items on those problem PLCs were stuck initializing until the PLC hierarchy was reset.
L00119269:
HotFix CR L00118334; SR 31711973: Secured Writes would not function from an InTouch 10.1 SP3 Patch 01 Managed application if DASABCIP 4.1 SP2 was installed on the same node. The issue is resolved in DASABCIP 4.1 SP3.
NOTE: If InTouch already displays this behavior, upgrading from DASABCIP 4.1 SP2 to DASABCIP 4.1 SP3 will not correct the issue. For more information, see Readme-Hotfix-L00117361.txt available for download from WDN.
Known Issues—ABCIP DAServer
L00113466:
In MicroLogix 1400 with unsolicited messages active, switching the PLC from run mode to program mode will generate an unsolicited socket exception with a minidump. To resume unsolicited communications after you return the PLC to run mode, you need to perform a reset on the MicroLogix 1400 hierarchy.
L00115135:
After installing a third-party OPC server on top of an already installed DAServer, OPC clients may not be able to browse for OPC servers using OPCEnum, and the client receives error 0x80040153. As a workaround, install the DAServer last.
